Camping at Jack's R!ver

For Labor Day weekend 2006 we went camping at Jack's R!ver in the mountains of north Georgia. The weather was wonderful considering the reports were predicting thunder storms all weekend. The hike from the parking lot to the r!ver was about 4.5 miles. There were 7 people in our group (Er!c, Jane11, Todd, Gil, Jen, Mark and Kristin). Here are some pictures.

Here are a few views of our campsite

(1) Jane11 is ready to swim (2) The Hullquists and the Cayabyabs

Mark swimming in the big pool

(1) The upper falls empty into the big swimming pool (2) The lower falls are bigger than the upper falls and also empty into a nice large pool

(1) View of the main pool from up on the cliff. You can jump from this spot into the water (maybe 18 - 20 feet down). (2) This is the view from another good jumping spot. The object is to jump into the pool of water just below the waterfall. This jump is also about 18 - 20 feet.

(1) Todd sitting on the edge of the upper waterfall. (2) Jane11 jumping off the upper waterfall - 8 or 9 feet. (3) Some guy doing a cannonball off the 20ft cliff.

Mostly Self-Explanitory

New Living Room Walls

Our living room was finished in paneling on 3 walls and was a little too dark with only one window providing natural light. Our cost-effective solution was to fill in these paneling cracks and repaint the walls. It was a long process, but well worth the trouble!

Part-way through the process

This is what it looks like now.
(We plan to paint a picture on that white canvas)

You can see how much darker the previous color was in this first photo

Dining Room Doorway

We decided to cut a second doorway into our formal dining room which would help open up the room plus make the house feel larger and roomier. Here are some pitures of the process.

We also added a second arch over the previous doorway
