Trip to Seattle

The weather was predictably overcast and rainy and comfortably cool. Much nicer than the muggy 90's back home in Tennessee...

Back to Pensacola! (one week later)
This week I (Er!c) had to go back down to Pensacola, but this time it was for work. We were shooting some video footage at one of the newest and rather luxurious nursing facilities. Here are a few photos I took...
Although the nursing facility we were working at was in North Pensacola, the hotel we were staying at was out on Pensacola Beach (map). Yes, our hotel was RIGHT on the beach. :)
Tuesday evening Mark & Kristin came out to our hotel and we walked around the touristy little boardwalk, out on a couple piers, and along a couple stretches of beach. We also discovered these little glowing things in the sand! (Here are more bioluminescent things).
Wednesday evening Bryan and I met up with Mark and Kristin and went to Tre Fratelli's where we sat at an outside table and enjoyed two veggie pizzas, then walked back through town to Mark's office where we picked up his car and drove back over the two bridges to Pensacola Beach.
If I ever have to be in a nursing home, I want to go here!

Life Care Music Video 2007
Well, it's time once again to shoot our company's annual music video. However, unlike last years music video we shot at 4 different locations this time (Lawrenceville, Chattanooga, Apison, and Collegedale) which added quite a bit more set-up and tear-down time. My main title was Script Supervisor, but I also filled in as a Grip when needed.
Monday we packed up all our gear and drove down to Lawrenceville, GA and prepared for an early morning shoot. All day Tuesday we shot at one of our nursing home facilities (above) and then drove back home to Chattanooga that evening. I was chosen to drive the big box truck there and back, which was quite the adventure in Atlanta rush hour traffic.
Wednesday we spent the day at Eastridge Hospital in Chattanooga, TN where we shot scenes in a hospital room and also a waiting room (above). I even had a cameo appearance as a janitor in the background of the waiting room scene. But due to a practical joke in makeup I won't show you any pictures of me. Thankfully I'm too far away in the final shot to notice the makeup... . :)
On Thursday we moved to a duplex apartment in Apison, TN, to shoot the "at home" scenes. It was quite crowded inside with 10-12 people on the set at any given time... This was one of the hottest weeks yet this summer with the heat index well over 100 degrees, so we had to buy 2 extra air conditioner units just to keep up with all the lights and warm bodies.
Friday morning we finished the home scenes and then moved to a street corner in Collegedale to finish up our shot list with a bus stop scene. Using a park bench and a bus stop sign, we were able to create an authentic looking bus stop complete with real city bus, borrowed (rented) from the Chattanooga Area Rapid Transit Authority (CARTA), along with extras at the bus stop and a couple fighting in the background (part of the story). Thankfully there was a nice breeze and we were able to be in the shade most of the time...

Where I Work
Last week I took these photos of my office. For those of you who don't know, I (Er!c) work at a large, privately owned company doing video production & editing. I've been working here for 2 years now and thought I'd finally show you all where I spend most of my time. Unfortunately my office has no windows to the outside, but at least I can see out into the hall. Occasionally people walk past... I also have a lava lamp, and a 30" plasma monitor. . :)
Most of the work we do is for internal purposes only but sometimes we get an "outside" project. Several months ago we shot a 10-part series for Mark Finley. The recording studio is directly across the hall from my office (shown in the pictures above).

Mark Finley Project
Several weeks ago we did a video project with/for Mark Finley. During our first couple creative planning meetings we had to pitch an idea for the set design, and the one that we finally went with was one of my basic ideas (the curved backdrop) and was based off a sketch that I drew. So that was pretty cool to see one of my ideas come together like this!
We then had to go out and purchase all the supplies for building the set.
...and then we had to build it. I only got to help with part of the building process since I was busy editing another project at the time.
But I did get to run a camera once we started the shooting process. We ended up shooting 10 one-hour programs over the course of 3 days. I'll let you know when and where these programs will eventually air so you can watch them.__:)
