Busy Weekend: Biking, Moving, Sailing

Last week Jane11's parents closed on their new house so Mark & Kristin decided to come up for the weekend and help them move. Sabbath afternoon, a group of us decided to go bike riding over at Harrison Bay State Park.

We spent most of the day Sunday moving loads of boxes and furniture from several locations to the new house, most of which had been in long-term storage for the past 32 years!

Then on Monday the two of us decided to take the boat out after getting home from work, since the weather was great. There wasn't much wind, but we were able to do a little sailing before the wind died completely. Thank goodness we have an electric trolling motor now!

Friday Afternoon Fun

Friday afternoon some friends of ours called and asked if we would like to join them to go skiing out on the lake after work. So after getting changed and picking up some snacks & extra life jackets, we headed over to the Harrison Bay boat ramp and met up with the rest of the gang. We each took turns behind the boat -- some skiing, some kneeboarding. After it got dark we cruised up the river and dropped anchor in a quiet cove where we enjoyed the peace & quiet while David & Zach went swimming. :)

Labor Day Weekend, 2008

Sabbath afternoon some friends of ours called and asked if we wanted to go wakesurfing near Harrison Bay. I had heard about their earlier wakesurfing adventures and wanted to try it myself, so we got changed into our swim gear and headed over to the boat dock. Once on the boat Russel (the owner of the boat) showed us how it was done and then it was our turns! Getting up was quite awkward and yet surprisingly easy, while finding that illusive "sweet spot" in the wave took a bit more effort.

On Monday (Labor Day) Jane11 and Er!c decided to take the boat out on the lake and explore some of the islands around Harrison Bay. This time we had a newly designed sail and a new electric trolling motor which we wanted to try out. There was a slight breeze so we used a combination of both. We also went swimming, explored a couple quiet coves and got sunburned!

Another Birthday

Last weekend (August 9) was Er!c's birthday and Jane11 was yet again out of town on a business trip, but this time it was to Tampa, FL. Mark and Kristin & Kristin's sister, Karen, decided to come up for a surprise visit (for Er!c's birthday) and brought along Mark's new bike. So on Sabbath afternoon a group of us went for a 6 mile bike ride up in the Ocoee (map). The first mile was a pretty steep climb up the mountain, and the last mile was straight down the other side! Wow, what a workout, but also lots of fun! (and only a few people got hurt).

Saturday night Mark, Kristin, Todd & Karen took me out to eat for my birthday. I chose Macaroni Grill which always offers you free chocolate cake for your birthday... Mmmm. :) Thanks again guys!

Sunday morning Mark, Todd & Er!c road the Booker T. Washington trail (another 6 miles) and then we all went and ate Indian food at The Curry Pot, which was very good!

When Life Gives You Limes...

Yesterday Todd brought us a bag full of limes that his boss had given him (from his parent's lime tree in Florida). We decided to juice our pile of limes and make limeade! So while Jane11 washed and cut the limes Er!c juiced them. When it was all said and done we had 2 quarts of fresh squeezed lime juice (which we froze), a pitcher of fresh limeade, and 5 or 6 more limes which we saved for making guacamole. Mmmmm....

Back From Peru

Jane11 is finally back from her two week mission trip to Peru! Here are a few photos from her trip to the famous ruins of Machu Picchu (and another site in Cusco).

Living Room Project (part3)

It's finally mostly done! At least done enough to post a photo (and just in time for Jane11's return from Peru). I still need to replace some electrical sockets & switches, put the face plates back on and paint the remaining trim & walls. Just little cosmetic stuff here and there... This new addition has made such a wonderful improvement to our house!

Next up: Finishing the new "den" (through the double doors).
